MUSIC
“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.” — Roy Ayers
INTENT
Our intent at Bartley is that Music will inspire a love and appreciation of both listening to and playing music.
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen critically to the best in the musical canon.
IMPLEMENTATION
Music is taught every fortnight by specialist music teachers from Hampshire Music Service. The children engage in a rich mixture of curriculum based music and Listen2me (where the children learn to play an instrument). Once a week, children learn singing skills during our Singing Collective Worship.
