School Governance
Role of the Governing Body
School governance is a strategic element of Bartley Junior School’s management structure. We focus on three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and direction
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of the staff
- Oversight of the financial performance of the school, making sure its money is well spent
We operate as a “flat structure” governing body, which means that all decisions are made jointly by all members of the governing body and we meet monthly.
