Reading
The Importance of Reading
Reading is an essential skill for a learner's cognitive development, providing a wide range of benefits for both children and adults including the following:
-
enhanced vocabulary (supporting spelling and writing);
-
improved communication skills;
-
a broader imagination;
-
stronger critical thinking skills.
More generally, reading also offers stress relief, improves sleep quality, and can even slow cognitive decline. Furthermore, strong reading skills are essential for academic success and navigating the complexities of modern life.
We look forward to working alongside you and your child(ren) to unlock the magic of reading for pleasure and, in turn, the benefits outlined above.
We would ask that you please read with your child at least five times a week (both 'reading to' and 'reading with') - sign their reading diary each time and your child can earn a merit every week!
